Name: Matisse B
Pronouns: she/her
SOS Title: Project Prevention Coordinator: Spay & Neuter
Matisse joined SOS in 2025 as the Project Prevention Coordinator for Spay & Neuter after finding the organization through social media while searching for a rescue that aligned with her values.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Matisse has always had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Right after high school, she volunteered at a spay and neuter clinic on a First Nation, an experience that left a lasting impact and deepened her understanding of how important accessible veterinary care can be for communities and their animals.
In her day-to-day work, Matisse is a grant writer focused on food sovereignty, environmental initiatives, and large-scale infrastructure projects for First Nations. Being able to combine her professional experience in fundraising with her love for animals made joining SOS feel like the perfect fit.
Outside of SOS, Matisse loves hiking, reading, baking, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Korra.
Fun fact: Last summer, Matisse hiked 85 kilometres along the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, which she says was one of the most beautiful experiences of her life.
