Helping to keep families together
More and more families are struggling with the rising cost of living, and pet care is no exception. Increased veterinary costs, housing instability, food insecurity, and unexpected emergencies are impacting people from all walks of life.
At Save Our Scruff, we believe one of the most effective ways to reduce the number of dogs entering shelters is by supporting the families who already love them.
Our Keeping Families Together program helps remove barriers to pet ownership through financial assistance, practical resources, education, and community partnerships. By providing support before families reach a crisis point, we can prevent unnecessary surrenders and keep more dogs safe, loved, and at home.
Asking for help should never be a source of shame. Everyone needs support sometimes, and we're here to help families and their dogs navigate life's challenges.
When Cohiba needed emergency surgery to save her life, her pet-parent needed support. Through working with a community partner, Cohiba was able to receive her lifesaving surgery at a subsidized rate - and is now back to playing and smiling!

testimonial
When we welcomed Poko into our family through Save Our Scruff in 2021, she was a shy, older dog who needed time, patience, and understanding. Over the years, we've worked hard to support her training and help her feel safe and comfortable. Now, as Poko navigates some age-related health challenges, financial support from SOS is helping ease the burden of unexpected veterinary expenses. I'm currently in nursing school, so this support means so much to our family as we manage these additional costs. Thank you for helping us continue to give Poko the happy, comfortable life she deserves!
