NORMA

Female | ~4 months old | 13 pounds & growing! | Puppy energy | Friendly with kids | Good second dog | Hasn’t met cats | Fostered in Toronto | Smart, spunky & playful

Are you ready to meet the love of your life? Her name is NORMA and she’s a 3-month-old pup that’s currently being looked after in Toronto. She’s got that playful puppy energy you know and love but can still go from zoomies and play wrestling to snuggling in an instant. So, yes, she’s a really nice mix of playful and calm, spunky and gentle.

A total pleasure to have around the home, NORMA is perhaps best described as a super smart girl who knows how to be respectful of both people and dogs. Currently living with another scruff in the home, NORMA would likely enjoy having another furry pal in the home going forward. She’s curious in nature, which has her noticing other dogs while out and about, though that said, she’s not one to approach them just yet. With time, patience, and of course training, NORMA will no doubt build up that confidence of hers.

Talking about building confidence, this pup does best with slow introductions. NORMA can be initially unsure of meeting new people but quickly warms up if the person is sitting on the floor and invites her into their lap (aka her favourite place to be). Since being in her foster’s care, NORMA has become more confident and has been getting used to being in a home environment, walking outside with cars, dogs, and people, which was initially difficult for her. Slow, measured introductions with positive reinforcement has been helpful. Taking a measured approach to continue bolstering her confidence is key! She will love having you advocate for her in this way, especially at the park where she can play fetch, sniff around and explore – also a great way for her to expend that playful puppy energy!

While still young, NORMA responds well to corrections and is easily directed by her humans. Training will absolutely still be in her future, and you should know that she can be vocal when playing or when wanting to alert her humans of something. With that in mind, she might do best in a home other than an apartment (i.e., doesn’t share a wall with a neighbour), at least for now while she continues to learn.
