JD (AKA JAY)

Male | 3.5 months old | 15 pounds & growing! | Medium energy | Good with kids | Limited interactions with dogs | Hasn’t met cats | Fostered in Toronto | Sweet & affectionate

How are things going with JD, AKA Jay, you ask? So far so good… or should we say so far so great! With a first-time foster family, he’s busy doing puppy things that have him alternating between periods of play and chill. He’s no stranger to zoomies and also happens to nap like a champ. It’s all about balance!

Hanging out in sunny spots is one of this particular scruff’s preferred activities. You’ll likely notice that JD is happy to play on his own, but we encourage you to keep an eye on him! Why? He might just steal your socks if you’re not paying attention :)

With a medium energy level, being a part of the household action is fun for him. He can be cautious about new situations when out walking (think: traffic, unfamiliar places, etc.), though lately he’s shown an increase in confidence and therefore less hesitance in these situations. He can get excited around kiddos who match his puppy energy and enjoys living with two younger kids in the home. He’s gentle, though still a pupp,y so in the chance he’s being playfully nippy, you can redirect him when interacting with youngsters. Good family dog? 100%.

JD is the kind of scruff who picks up on cues quickly. Being food-motivated also helps make short bursts of training with him extra fun. At the moment he’s busy getting used to the sights and sounds of a big city and regularly enjoys 20-30 min walks. He’s a people magnet in the neighbourhood, that’s for sure, and loves soaking up the attention in a calm manner (plus tail wags and kisses)! He consistently lets his people know when he needs to go out and is happy using his crate to sleep in.

While JD has yet to spend some solid time interacting with dogs, he shows lots of curiosity when he spots them out in the neighbourhood and wants to make friends with them all. We think he’d totally love a playdate with a scruff friend.
