CYNTHIA joined Save Our Scruff in 2014 as a home visit counselor with one goal: to help as many dogs as possible find their forever homes. Volunteering in various roles, she found her calling after attending a Spay & Neuter Clinic in Mexico. In that moment, she knew that this community, these people, and this cause were forever embedded in her heart.
Fast forward to almost twelve years later—in as many roles as years—and she is now our fearless Board Director. She is equally passionate about people as she is about dogs, and her days are filled with supporting our Board and our Executive Director in any way needed. Her greatest passion is collaborating and connecting on how to create the best vision and strategy to help Save Our Scruff be the absolute best it can be. Oh, and let’s not forget her love of cuddling all the dogs.
She is a self-proclaimed Save Our Scruff lifer—just ask her husband, who also happens to volunteer or her son, who has to tolerate Hook, the three-legged chihuahua she brought home from the Dominican Republic while on a Spay & Neuter clinic.
Outside of her active role, Cynthia’s life is, well, active. You will usually find her out in nature running, hiking, or walking with her dog Hook and whatever foster is lucky enough to be in their home at the time. She loves traveling the world with her son and husband and is always deeply rooted in solidifying relationships, building new connections, and practicing yoga. And of course, she’s at as many Save Our Scruff events as possible—all while trying to convince her friends, colleagues, and community to become volunteers.
