CANUCK

Male | 4 months old | Medium-high energy | Lives with a dog | Has met older kids and cats | From Hamilton | Fostered in Peterborough | Bossy & bold in the best way!

Playful. Sweet. Fearless. We think those three words sum up scruffy pup CANUCK pretty gosh darn nicely! But, first things first. You must know that CANUCK is a whole heck of a lot of fun (he’s got the puppy energy to prove it!). This also means he’s got lots of training to still get under his belt and a seemingly endless supply of energy to burn off!

Let’s talk about boundaries. This pup finds a lot of joy in testing those. He is food-motivated though, and his foster has found that he sees the light (and listens to commands!) when he knows a treat is on the line. So, that’s a win. And going forward? Well, let’s just say that setting and maintaining boundaries will continue to be a big theme for him, though he’s so eager to please his people that this shouldn’t be too tricky.

Living with another scruff in the home, CANUCK looooves play wrestling and playing tug. It’s also been so cool for his foster family to see CANUCK look up to another scruff that has been busy showing him the ropes. He follows his foster dog brother’s lead on walks which is where CANUCK has been working hard on improving his leash skills.

After short training sessions, having some downtime has been hugely helpful. It’s this dedicated crate time that helps this scruff decompress… and subsequently not have those extra zoomy zoomies. CANUCK has been known to enjoy quietly playing with a chew toy in that space. As a pup, CANUCK needs an adopter with a more flexible schedule. Keep in mind that he requires more frequent bathroom breaks. In time, living with a 9-5er would be just fine.

CANUCK is a social butterfly and likes to receive pats from equally as friendly humans. While he is interested in meeting new people, he’s likely to do best in a home without kids for now as he learns not to nip. What about cats? He’s shown he can coexist with cats while visiting with them for a few hours and, if we’re being honest, he doesn’t show much interest in them anyways!
