ELENI, team lead & puppy litter lead
Eleni is the Assistant Adoption Manager for Save Our Scruff. She works with SOS’ Adoption Manager, Sarah, to build communication strategies and improve adoption processes with the adoption team and throughout SOS. There’s a lot of creating and updating paperwork involved but Eleni’s A-type personality is all about it! She is also the lead for foster-to-adopts (FTAs) and puppy litters. In this role, she supports FTA Counselors during the adoption process and helps train new FTA Counselors when they join the team.
Eleni started as a transport volunteer in 2016 with SOS. From there, she became an Adoption/FTA Counselor and then the lead for FTAs and puppy litters. She also fosters with SOS and loves meeting and working with different scruffs. The best part about being a volunteer with the adoptions team and as a foster is helping dogs find their forever homes! It is so rewarding to send out a “congratulations on adopting your new scruff” email and knowing another dog will be happy in their forever home with their amazing humans.
Eleni also appreciates how much emphasis SOS puts on education because it’s so important for everyone, no matter how experienced or inexperienced you may be! Eleni didn’t grow up with dogs so she especially advocates for all the first-time dog owners out there who research, ask questions, and are open to learning new things!
Outside of SOS, Eleni is a Children and Youth Librarian. Some of Eleni’s hobbies include yoga, playing sports, reading, cooking, and travelling. She’s also obsessed with watching Friends and going to Friends trivia nights at Hemmingway’s in Yorkville (or, really, anywhere that hosts Friends trivia nights).
