Meet RASCAL! He was pretty shy when he first arrived in our care but he’s come a long way already and seeing him do things like seek affection from his fosters or get super excited about his toys gives us all the feels. He even enjoys getting all kinds of love and hugs at times. That said, he will still need some support in his furever home as he continues to build his confidence. It’s important to not baby him and continue to expose him to new things. RASCAL prefers to make the first move with human and dog friends but has improved big time meeting human buds without shying away. Not making a fuss about him and allowing him to check you out when he’s ready is the best approach and helps him feel brave! RASCAL is somewhat fearful meeting new dogs so introducing calming techniques in these situations could be one way to work on this with him, which will help him become more confident. RASCAL is medium energy but could probably adjust to an even more active lifestyle if that’s what his people were into. RASCAL is house trained, letting you know when he wants to go out and has been working on the basics including commands and responds well to direction and leadership. One command he nails every time is no and he’s very respectful if you indicate that something is off limits. He LOVES stuffed toys and playing tug. He sleeps on a blanket in the living room at night, and during the day is used to a more flexible schedule with his foster where he’s rarely left alone. He will definitely need time to adjust to a new schedule. RASCAL is comfortable with the other dog in the home and would do well with a second chill dog.
