Meet CASSANOVA! This pocket hound dog is looking for some patient people who can continue to help her break out of her shell. She’s still very nervous on leash but loves to lounge in the backyard. As such, her walks haven’t been as long as she would probably like. Her furever fam will need to work on developing trust with her, leading by example and showing confidence so that her curiosity kicks in and she’ll want to follow you anywhere. Regardless her leash skills will take work and that starts with your pup trusting you in the home! CASS has shown glimpses of a playful personality so we know that there’s a confident babe in there just waiting to come out. She’s pretty chill in the home and doesn’t take up too much space but is used to being in a quieter environment. She loves being with her people and is generally following you around the house if you’re home. She is crate trained and does whine a bit when her people leave. Although CASS is very friendly with the people she trusts, she needs proper intros when meeting new people as she’s scared of the unknown. She should always be allowed to approach people first, and with the supervision of her people she usually warms up pretty quickly. CASS is also timid when interacting with new dogs, especially if they’re forward or fast as sudden movements are triggering for her. She would do well with another friendly dog in the home who can help her to become more confident. She hasn’t shown any aggression with other dogs so a pooch who can read her signals while gently pushing her out of her comfort zone would be ideal. She hasn’t been tested with cats but does enjoy chasing squirrels in her backyard. CASS hasn’t been tested with kids but due to her nerves should only go to a home with kids 14+ who are dog savvy and can respect her boundaries. If you’d like to help her become the confident pup she was destined to be, apply to adopt CASSANOVA now!
