Meet SIMON! This adorable little dude is a tripod but if you ask him three legs are way better than two. He’s a very happy boy and is still very much a puppy – he loves attention and he loves playing with his toys! He’s currently living in a home with no backyard which is working well for him so far but more space to run around wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing as he loves running around. The only thing is he absolutely hates the cold and is super reluctant to spend too much time outside. Polar vortex? Ya, that’s going to be a no for SIMON. As such, housetraining has been a bit of a challenge. It’s like he takes one look outside at all the snow and is like yup, I’m definitely peeing in the house today. His new family will need to be committed to setting up a routine and working through this with lots of encouragement and patience. He was pretty unimpressed by the weather when he first got to Canada but has been coming out of his shell more so we expect more of his personality to shine through as he acclimatizes further. SIMON is very people friendly and loves cuddling and tummy rubs. Other than the housetraining he is very well behaved in the home and doesn’t usually need to be crated. He sleeps well through the night in his dog bed in his foster’s room. A less than ideal home for SIMON would be one where he has to spend a lot of time alone and doesn’t have any time to play. If you want to adopt him you must have toys, no exceptions. He’s generally pretty indifferent to other dogs but has shown some signs of jealousy with other dogs in the home. Everything has been manageable though and we think he is fully capable of interacting with other dogs. Proper leadership should be continued in the home so behaviours do not escalate. He hasn’t been tested with cats or kids but would probably be fine with other kids. If you’d like to meet this sweet boy fill out an application to adopt!
