*If you previously applied for POPCORN please read this full bio carefully before reapplying* Remember when we first told you guys POPCORN was chill? Ya, our bad.He has a lot of energy plus a huge personality. In his previous life he was with his human essentially 24/7 and didn’t really live by a lot of rules. He has improved significantly but needs to be reminded that you’re the one who’s in charge. This means only inviting him up on the couch once in a while and letting him get used to life at ground level. Since his surgery the nipping has disappeared although you need to make sure his bad habits don’t come back! POPCORN needs to understand the rules and that he can’t just do whatever he wants. He will continually try to jump on the furniture with you but it’s important to stay strong. If he tries to jump up 100 times and you let him up just one time he’ll be like sweet, these rules aren’t real and these people WILL crack if I just keep trying. He whines a bit when you leave but quickly comes to terms with the fact he is getting some much needed popcorn time. He also sleeps in his crate at night and doesn't make a peep He patiently waits to greet you in the morning but gets extremely excited when coming out of his crate so it’s important to play it cool. Continued crate training will be key! POPCORN has two speeds: going a million miles a minute or sleeping and there are rarely any moments in between. That being said, if popcorn gets a couple of long walks a day, (he’s a true outdoorsmen) all of his energy is left outside and he will just chill if his human is chilling. If you’re walking around the house be prepared to have a shadow. Although he is sometime a handful, Popcorn is a sweetheart that just needs some direction and guidance, like most teenagers his age! He needs to be fully secured on car rides just in case but has recently either slept in his crate or passed out. POPCORN is great with other dogs and is more than happy to be off leash at the dog park, this little guy is a social butterfly. He hasn’t been tested with cats and should only go to a home with older kids with the nipping. POPCORN is looking for a structured, experienced home who will keep up with his activity level and give him lots of attention but also work through all of his training needs going forward. Keep in mind this little fur ball is not meant to be a lap dog, or a purse pooch if you give him an inch he will take a mile and end up in his old ways. If you’d like to meet him fill out an application to adopt now!
