Meet MIELA! She’s a ball of energy and loves to play and be active. The only thing that stands in her way sometimes is the fact that she’s a little shy. She doesn’t seem like a downtown city gal and would prefer a home in a quieter area. She would love a backyard that she can confidently run around in to burn some energy. Her current apprehensions include: crowds or people and/or dogs, cars, concrete stairs outside, all forms of public transit and hot dog stands. If you live downtown you know the hot dog stand phobia is a problem but MIELA is not down with street meat. She is however great at meeting new people either one on one or in smaller groups – she’s very human social and likes to be the centre of attention when people are around. She is crate trained but will whine if she knows you’re around or for the first few minutes that she’s left alone. She is quiet when crated at night so you can get some good sleep. MIELA is a high energy dog and needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. This can be tricky at the moment as she shouldn’t be off leash and is not comfortable at dog parks. Her people will need to use regular walks along with lots of training and games (inside and outside, think things like tug of war, fetch, find it, etc) in order to keep her happy. Pro tip: she LOVES to sniff so scent based games are key. MIELA needs more socialization with dogs. She’s ok with one dog hanging around but becomes nervous when they get to close. A confident, but not pushy, dog may be able to pull her out of her shell a bit more. She does not like to be around more than one dog at the moment. She is cat social though and hasn’t been tested with kids. If you’d like to meet her fill out an application to adopt now!
