MEATLOAF

| M | 1 Y | Chihuahua mix | Medium energy | Very playful | Sassy | Needs structure | Cuddler | Can be vocal | Good with dogs | Maybe ok with cats | 16+ kids only

Better than a Sunday dinner at your grandma’s house… meet MEATLOAF! This little dude can be your own personal life coach because he’s just so excited about everything! His tail is almost the full length of his body and he prances around everywhere with such confidence you’ll be like is that dog famous? He’s still young and very puppy like – he loves playing with his toys and he loves pushing his boundaries. He is a huge cuddler and is very affectionate with his people. At the same time he will require a home with structure as he has many traits of a typical Chihuahua – he’s curious, loyal and bold but can also be wary of strangers and very protective of his people. He will bark at new people if he doesn’t like the look of them or feels uncomfortable. Proper introductions are key! New people should ignore him but be ready to offer a treat when he decides to initiate contact as he is very food motivated. He is capable of living in an apartment but because he’s self-appointed himself as your bodyguard you should know that he may bark at external noises or when people are at the door. A home with a flexible schedule would be best for him because a) he loves you so much and b) he needs a potty break. He is housetrained if you are diligent with his schedule and he is fully crate trained meaning he stays in there at night and when his people are out of the house. He loves going for walks as long as it’s not too cold out and is great on leash. He’s a parkour star and loves to use all your furniture as his personal jungle gym. He lives with another small dog currently and has taken a lot of cues from her and tries to imitate her behavior. He would be a great second dog with another small pup in the home! He met a cat once and it went ok too. MEATLOAF is not comfortable around young children and should only go to a home with teenagers and older. We would love to see him in a home that will continue to work on his training as he’s super smart – which can work for or against you! If you’d like to meet him fill out an application to adopt below!
