Aloha! Want to hang with a total island guy?! Well, meet MAUI! This guy came to us from hot + warm climates in TEXAS but you can totally tell by his vibes that he always wanted to be a surfer dude, hence his name. MAUI is a fun loving medium energy dog that is happy to chill all day or catch the next wave. He will totally follow your lead! MAUI is a sweet and gentle guy who is ready for an adventurous family vacation. This dude is loving kids in his foster home and currently lives with 2 kids under the age of 10! He is more of a sand castle kind of dude but is willing to settle for travelling to your kids soccer games so he can happily meet the team or have a turn with the ball! Fitting with this, MAUI is also social with pooches and loves a good play session or walk on the beach! MAUI occasionally lets out a growl or bark when meeting new dogs but otherwise hasn’t had any issues with them, he just wants to sniff them and say hi. He responds very well to “heel” and needs a good leader to teach him that growls do not translate to “aloha” here in Canada if he wants to be able to show a dog he’s interested in play!! He would be a great second dog as he is very playful or a busy household with lots of activities he can be a part of. Play sessions with neighbourhood or friends dogs are also an option to get out energy! He is not currently cat tested but does have hound in him which tends to keep his nose on the ground searching for picnic snacks or furry friends. He would likely be very playful and/or chase cats. MAUI also doesn’t agree with WORK as he’s a fun kind of guy and prefers a family with a flexible schedule. A stay at home person would be IDEAL or possibly a doggy daycare like @unleashedinthecity or @dogtopiabloorwest Maybe even flexible schedules where at least someone is home more often then not! He has barked while alone but is working on his separation anxiety so it doesn’t continue to develop. He is currently free to roam the house he is in and is NOT a chewer. So your Jimmy “chews” will stay intact! We hope his adopters will work on crate training him instead (likely slow + patient process) to help diminish his SA so he can build independence! He has the occasional accident at home if left alone for long enough, especially during good surfing season. He has made a lot of progress in foster care and is learning manners well. He is a younger dog looking for some guidance to be the best dude he can be!! If that is you, please apply now!
