It’s been a minute since we introduced you to a sassy little Chi so meet GAVIOTA! Her alter ego is LUANNE… Bey/Sasha Fierce styles. GAVIOTA is a super sweet and happy little lady who needs some boundaries so that she doesn’t escalate to full-on diva mode. She doesn’t really seem to be afraid of anything and happily strolls into most new situations like 'yo, give me cuddles!'. She’s great at meeting new people and even met 2 small neighbour children and was super gentle! The child was also very respectful of GAVIOTA so it was win/win! She enjoys a couple short walks per day as long as the weather is nice and is playful in the home. She loves playing fetch, tug of war, and chewing on a squeaky toy! She doesn’t bother you to go out first thing in the morning and is totally down to stay in bed for just 5 more minutes. She’s been working on crate training with her foster and it’s a work in progress (she gets vocal and barks for a while but eventually settles down) but crate training will be beneficial for her long term as it sets positive boundaries in the home. We don’t think she would enjoy spending full days in the crate without a break so someone with a flexible schedule would be ideal. She lives to cuddle and burrow under blankets and likes to check in on her people throughout the day, looking for ear scratches and belly rubs. Like a true superstar, she loves attention and being told she’s pretty. GAVIOTA is currently working on some leash reactivity with other dogs but is otherwise good on a leash and will stay by your side. She should never be meeting dogs nose to nose and her people should try to read her signals and make sure the situation doesn’t escalate to a full on reaction. When she’s had the opportunity to properly meet dogs and spend time with them off leash she’s been good, however, this should be in a controlled situation as she works on her socialization. She hasn’t been tested with cats. If you’d like to meet GAVIOTA fill out an application to adopt now!
