| F | 1 Y | Hound mix | Medium energy | Friendly + affectionate | Almost housetrained | Nervous about some things, like men | Dog social | Not cat or kid tested
FLAN is totally that dog who happily greets everyone – humans and pooches alike – at the dog park and is like I’m SO glad you’re here! She has this amazing energy that resonates with people. Fair warning, she’s pretty easy to fall in love with. She will need some additional support from her people as she continues to adjust to her new life but she has come such a long way in a short period of time and is getting better every day. She is still nervous in high traffic areas or when she hears loud noises on walks. She can be nervous with new people as well, especially men, but is totally in her element in the dog park. Regular visits to your local, secure dog park will be great for her as it really allows her true personality to shine. She is very attached to her female foster but hasn’t quite warmed up to her boyfriend yet… this will take time and patience. She should be allowed to lead all introductions with new people and things should be taken slowly. Because of her nerves, she hasn’t exactly mastered housetraining and will still use pee pads in the home. She is GREAT about doing her business off leash at the dog park, aka her happy place. You can see how proud she is when she does do her business outside so ongoing positive reinforcement will really help. FLAN barks occasionally in the home but is otherwise well behaved and likes following her foster around the house. She needs three walks a day so if her adopters work full-time they should be willing to get a trustworthy dog walker who is experienced with nervous pups. She doesn’t do well when she’s crated all day long but is ok about sleeping in there at night. Her leash skills will need some work as she zig zags around you and through your legs. She’s been watching Olympic figure skating and she can’t help it. She hasn’t been tested with cats or kids. With proper training and guidance, FLAN will be such an amazing companion!
