FALCO | M | 5 Y | Lab mix | 48 lbs | Medium energy | Smart | Obedient | Gets carsick | Silly + boisterous | Needs a leader | Could be vocal on leash | Can be dog social | Ok with kids | Not cat tested
Meet FALCO! He’s from Saudi Arabia so is still adjusting to his new life here in Canada. He loves other dogs but may be vocal with certain (usually big) dogs when he is on leash. He is very smart and obedient and made tremendous progress with leash skills in the past couple of months in his foster care. He walks like a perfect gentleman on leash right beside his foster and barely barks at other dogs after a little training. You do not have to be a "dog trainer" to adopt him, just provide him with structure and follow a simple set of rules. When he knows you are in charge he will trust and follow you. He is perfect at home, very low maintenance, does not need a whole lot of exercise, he just chills, naps and hangs with you. He could live in most environments – house, apt, gingerbread house, tent in the woods.... He is crated when his people are gone for the day and at night which is key to him understanding his boundaries and his development going forward. Although we all love cuddling pups all night long, it’s something beneficial for them to understand that they have their own space while the bed or the couch is yours. FALCO is very loyal and affectionate with his people, loving belly rubs and spending time and around you. He can be a little bit stubborn but when you earn his trust, he responds really well to training because he’s so smart – like smarter than the average dog. When he does push his boundaries he responds well to a verbal correction. We would like to see him go to a home committed to ongoing socialization training. He has been ok during casual interactions with kids but we would prefer for him to go to a home with older kids who can follow his training plan. FALCO will be such a great companion with the right support! If you’d like to meet him fill out an application to adopt now!
