Deeearr DARLA, we love your stinkin’ guts. You make us smile. You are the sand beneath our toes. Love, SOS.

DARLA is super sweet and it’s easy to fall in love with her. She’s very affectionate and would make a great companion dog/would really prefer a home where people have lots of time to devote to loving her. She would be fine in an apartment as she’s not a barker and is very well-behaved in the home. She is pee pad trained and will consistently use them without accidents however this is something that she could possibly work past, given a home with a more flexible schedule. She’s pretty low energy but does enjoy going for walks in above zero weather ONLY. She means it. In the home, she’s very playful. Darla is an early bird and loves to play with her toys even before having her breakfast so we hope you’re an early riser. But no worries, if you don’t want to get up, stay in bed and she’ll get back to sleep….she’s a patient girl. After playtime, she’ll ask for her breakfast and then be happy to go for a walk as long as it’s not too cold. Then she’ll snooze the rest of the morning away on the couch, using pee pads if you’re not home. The afternoon means more playtime to work up an appetite for her dinner at 5 p.m. after which she’ll lay on your chest on the couch and give you lots of kisses. At night she likes to sleep on the couch which she has 100% claimed as her own, but she may still share with you. DARLA is a bit of a diva and is SUPER picky about her food and treats. She would much prefer to eat what you’re eating. Her favourite: Fettucini, peas and meat. She has been having some issues with her teeth making it difficult to eat crunchy things but she will be going in for a dental soon. DARLA can be nervous meeting new people when they enter her home (she will bark but keep her distance) or while being held by her people. She’s better at meeting new people on the ground and with a proper intro – letting her approach and sniff, then she loves to be petted and will even accept food from them (as long as it’s human food ;)). She loves meeting dogs on leash but seems nervous of them when they’re running around, especially big dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats or kids. Apply to adopt now!!
