BENITHO

BENITHO

BENITHO | M | 4 Y | Chihuahua mix | Low energy | Shy at first | Needs proper intros | Needs training/housetraining | Easygoing with trusted ppl | Nervous of big dogs | Ok with cats | No young kids

He’s on a journey of self-discovery and learning to find his voice… meet BENITHO! He’s still trying to find his niche here in Toronto but he’s getting there. He heard Oprah is very empowering so he’s been binge-watching reruns. He’s pretty easy going in the home and is generally content to curl up in a comfy dog bed for most of the day. At the moment he’s pretty low energy and doesn’t need much physical activity however as he continues to build his confidence and settle in we may see these energy levels increase, which is something for potential adopters to consider. Or, he’ll always just be a couch potato… WHO KNOWS. Although he’s chill with his trusted people he needs proper introductions with others and doesn’t enjoy being pet by strangers. He should be allowed to make the first move and it takes time for him to build that trust. Once he trusts you he is very affectionate and loves belly rubs. He is good on leash but as he’s finding his voice more and more he tends to bark at things that make him uncomfortable including bigger dogs and men. His people should be committed to working on his socialization skills and slowly exposing him to things that make him nervous so he can become more and more comfortable. BENITHO would benefit from some training classes to help build his confidence and he’s still working on housetraining so someone who can take him out regularly would be ideal, otherwise he’s been fine when left alone. He is currently used to a routine of get up, eat, walk, nap, walk, nap, nap, eat, walk, sleep… so as you can tell he’s pretty low key. BENITHO does very well with small dogs but is not as comfortable with bigger dogs. He likes having another dog around but at the same time has an independent streak and likes his alone time… to watch Oprah. If you’d like to meet him fill out an application to adopt today!
