Meet WONDERBREAD! Yes, he knows it’s a mouthful, so he told us you can call him PETE for short. PETE is a dominant dog and will need structure and boundaries to remind him that you’re the boss. He will need a firm leader and ongoing training. He is crate trained currently and we recommend continuing with this to help him continue on the path to success. Implementing additional boundaries like not being allowed on the furniture is also beneficial. Too much freedom is not good for him as he doesn't always make the best choices without guidance. PETE is aa active dog and will need a decent amount of exercise (2+ hours) per day in order to be happy. He does have a lot of energy and we think he would really appreciate a backyard to run around in. PETE has a lot of love and respect for his trusted humans but can be a bit picky with other people. He does well meeting people outdoors but inside will try to establish his dominance and will need proper, controlled intros. He loves to test his limits and see what he can get away with. Interactions between PETE and new people should not be forced – people should be calm and confident to establish themselves as a leader and PETE should be allowed to make the decision to engage or not. He has not done well with certain people when he has been given too much freedom. Once trust has been established PETE is all about that cuddle life. He’s very smart and highly food motivated. On walks he tried to pull at first so that you can walk faster and see all of the things but responds well to corrections. He’s been great at meeting other dogs so far but hasn’t done anything more than a light play session so far and he hasn’t been off leash. He does have a prey drive so we don’t think he would be good with cats and would prefer a home without young kids for him at this time. PETE has so much potentially to be a WONDERFUL dog and just needs the right training and structure in order to succeed. If you’re about that life with your pup fill out an application to adopt now!
