Meet SHARPEI, a beautiful boxer mix from Mexico! She has the best personality to match those good looks and will win you over in no time. She’s still adjusting to her new life so understandably can be a little nervous in new situations but she loves you and all your friends too. She can sense when you know someone and she is super happy to greet them and roll over for belly rubs. She’s a little more apprehensive with new people but generally still curious and willing to say hello, with a proper intro of course! She can be a bit nervous of sudden movements and doesn’t like to pet unknowingly. She doesn’t get aggressive, just very surprised, and nobody likes that. SHARPEI has slight separation anxiety and prefers to be with her people as much as possible. A flexible schedule to at least check in on lunch or have a dog walker is a must, but more family time is appreciated by this gal! If she feels ignored she’ll whine a bit and does wine when home alone at times so consider this if you live in an apartment. She will need a structured routine and a adopter willing to work on her independence to be able to improve her SA! She’s well behaved in the home and responds well to basic commands, including the word no which will stop her in her tracks. She was very nervous with her crate but has done well with limited access in the home either with baby gates or closed doors. House training was a bit of an issue when she first arrived but she’s improved so much. A flexible schedule and frequent bathroom breaks are helpful for her. She’s medium energy and enjoys having a home with a backyard where she can chase squirrels. After a bit of initial shyness, SHARPEI is very friendly with other dogs and enjoys a good play session. She now has made some BFFL's. If they become too much she appropriately tells them to back off with a little growl. She hasn’t been tested with cats and but is good with dog savvy kids with proper monitoring. She does get spooked if grabbed/hugged from behind!
