Meet DASHA! This beauty is our second pup from Russia and we know you’re about to fall in love with her. We’ve been dreaming of snuggling up to her all day because she is SO SOFT. She can be shy at first but is slowly but surely coming out of her shell and realizing that making new friends both human and dog kind is actually pretty sweet. She’s especially shy with men but is capable of building relationships with a lot of patience and love – we still think she’d like a gal pal in the home though! DASHA is a bit of an old soul and people are often surprised to hear that she’s only 3 years old. In the home, she’s super chill but she does get little bursts of energy and definitely enjoys her outdoor time. So long as she’s getting enough exercise (roughly an hour and 45 mins each day currently) she’s completely satisfied with a quiet home to relax in. If she thinks she hasn’t explored enough that day she’ll whine a bit. Although you’re the leader and need to show her this, it is a warning that she does need some mental stimulation daily. She’s well behaved in the home and is not destructive however she may need a bit of help with housetraining. She’s learning some basic commands and is good on leash as well. She’s nervous about some loud noises as well as new people. She doesn’t like when people lean over her to try to pet her or when people move too fast. DASHA should be allowed to make the first move and approach people when she’s feeling comfortable. She is cautious and is slow to warm to people and environments. Trust building and gradual exposure are important. These continued interactions will help to build her confidence. She does form very strong bonds with the people she trusts. She can be a little apprehensive meeting other dogs and it took her a few days to settle with her foster brother but overall she is dog social. She hasn’t been tested with cats and we think young kids may be a bit much for her at this time. She also gets carsick almost always so may be something to note if you are wanting to travel with her a lot. If you’d like to apply to adopt DASHA fill out an application today!
