Meet JOSÉE, this girl is tough as nails and has got the confidence to back it. She will be undergoing TPLO on her left leg after thanksgiving. You think that would stop this smart and playful girl from having a good time? THINK AGAIN! This girl LOVES to get outside, wants to say hello to any dog or squirrel she sees, and can’t get enough of the dog park. JOSÉE likely had no experience in a big city before coming to Toronto, but she took it on like the confident lady she is. She is very strong and gets excited in new situations and around other dogs. But given how SMART she is, she has caught on quickly to “heel” and has become a polite walker with time. She will benefit from continued training on the leash and should only approach other dogs or humans while calm. She has already learned all basic commands in foster but definitely has the capacity to learn much more. Certain boundaries need to be established including the fact that humans run the house, not her. Once she's knows this, she is incredibly LOYAL and wants to spend her time snuggled by her human’s side. Because she is VERY smart she loves being mentally stimulated with games like tug-o-war and fetch and doesn’t have any interest in chewing things that aren’t hers (YAY!). She has been spending many of her foster weekends in cottage country, which she can't get ENOUGH of! The outdoors allows her to release some energy, swim, play and generally just be the happy-go-lucky chick she is. She also loves to lounge, snuggle and sleep-in with her humans when they chose. Once she develops trust in her people she is very AFFECTIONATE, playful and eager to please. She is showing some territorial tendencies over her fosters and requires proper introductions with new humans – especially when they enter her crib. However, once she knows they are cool with her peps, she likes to hang with them too. She’s crate trained and her new fam should continue with this as it provides a safe place for her to go to chill out and call her own. Experience with typically larger and assertive breeds would be beneficial. She’d be ok in a home with older children with dog experience and is fine with cats. JOSÉE is becoming an amazing dog and will continue to be with the right training.
